If you take just the beauty of its gate, the most beautiful in Madrid, the Municipal Museum is worth a visit. Previously the old Saint-Ferdinando Hospice, the monument was built in 1673 and than reformed in the 18th century by Pedro de Ribera. Only the chappel remains from the old part.

The museum holds many objects tracing the history of the city, from archeological collections exposed in the basement, to more recent events.
Two of the major objects that the museum exposes are the oldest known map of the city dated in 1656, as well as a small scale copy of the city achieved in 1830 by Leon Gil de Palacio.
You can also enjoy in the garden a beautiful fountain, also by Ribera.
