CLOSED FOR RENOVATION UNTIL SUMMER 2013

The Museo Arqueológico Nacional de España was founded in 1867 in an imposing 19th century building which he shares with the National Library at the back;

The museum groups thousands of objects found in all of Spain, as well as some coming from Egypt, Greece and Etrusque.
It holds in particular a rich collection of the El Argar Andalousian civilization (1800-1100 BC), and you can visit outside a reconstitution of the Altamira Grotto with superb paleolitic paintings.

Since 2008-2009, the museum have been in renovation, and should reopen its doors in summer 2013.
