Amsterdam is one of Europe's most visited city and also the most controversial one. Why is that? Simply because sex and cannabis coffee shops are found at every street corner.
I would recommend you to visit Amsterdam for a couple of days because the list of attractions that you can see and thing to do in Amsterdam is very long. Canals, museums, parks and the night life make you feel like you are in a totally different world.
For those who can only spend one day in this wonderful city I will write this one day walking trip to see the main attractions that will surely make the time spend there worth it.
A - Start from the Amsterdam Central railway station and from there walk the Damrak street that will get you directly to the Dam Square.
B - Here you will the Koninklijk Paleis and the Royal Palace of Amsterdam and the very known Madame Tussauds museum. On the way there you ca visit the controversial Erotic Museum situated on Damrak street, people are usually reluctant to walk inside but they surely come out with a smile on their face.
C - From here walk to the Westermarkt on Raadhuisstraat street and visit there the West Church that hold the remains of Rembrandt. Right around the corner on the Prinsengracht street you will probably see a big line that gets you inside the Anne Frank House and try not to miss this!
D - Follow the canal now and get to the Vondel-Park where you will surely spend some ours walking around and enjoying the green landscape.
E - Because you only have one day to end the tour you will probably have to check this three museums only from outside. The Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and Rijks Museum are Amsterdam most wanted! To enjoy the beauty inside you might have to take a separate day maybe two, only for them. But even so the park surrounding them is worth seeing and you can also take a picture at the I am Amsterdam sign in front of the Rijks museum.
F - If you want to see the Bloemenmarkt, the world's only floating flower market than you must prepare for a burst of flowers and colors, a floating version of wonderland. Buy some tulips or other beautiful flowers but make sure to ask if you can take them abroad.
G - The most known market in Amsterdam is the Waterlooplein, flea market. Located near Rembrandt House Museum and Amstel river the market enjoys daily the visit of hundreds of tourists.
H - Speaking of Rembrandt House Museum it`s time to visit this also. Situated on Jodenbreestraat the house is a tourist target and due to the great number of tourists that have crossed it's door was decided that the house museum must expand and has to reflect the reality of Rembrandt's period as perfect as possible.
I - This might be a lot for one day but let's finish the tour as we should in the Red District. Considering that it might get late you should definitely pass De Wallen but don`t forget no pictures here!
J - You can end your tour at the Central station and from there take the free ferry boat to the I am Amsterdam monument next to the EYE Film Institute.
