I guess that most of the people in the world have heard about Transylvania and it's legends. I also think that some of the one who heard about Transylvania read at least online about it and some might even checked some details about it's history, culture and tourism.
Yearly I do a 5 days tour around the most important places and cities here. Here is a possible itinerary.

Day 1- I always start from Cluj-Napoca because I live here but I also consider you ca start from here as it has the second most important airport in Romania. And if you start from here you can visit this wonderful city that is considered "the city in the heart of Transylvania". A city of historical importance, a city of youth and culture. On the following website you will find information about the thing you can visit here: http://visitcluj.ro/

Day 2 - From Cluj-Napoca you should go a bit south in Turda. Here is the renown Salt Mine that has recently transformed into the most important touristic destination of the region. Not only the people built here a spectacular structure within the mine so that it should attract many tourists, it also bring many persons, especially parents with children that have respiratory health problems. If you end the visit earlier than programed you may have time to visit a wonder of nature near Turda: The Turda Gorges. I recommend you to cross the gorges by walking. It will take approximately 1.5 hours one way but it is an experience that you will not forget.
You can either return to Cluj-Napoca or spend the night in Turda

Day 3 - A next stop would be Sibiu, in 2007 the Cultural Capital of Europe. A wonderful Saxon/ German city, wonderfully preserved and with a lot of places to visit. Go to the ASTRA Outdoor Museum and discover the old Romania, with it's countryside traditions and folklore. Be careful, it is closed on Mondays. The city of Sibiu, especially the center, is the perfect place to enjoy a wonderful day, sight seeing, museums visiting and having a drink at one of the many terraces from the center. All the information about Sibiu can be found here: http://www.turism.sibiu.ro/index_en.php

Day 4, 5 and maybe more - You must go to Brasov; probably the best city of Romania. A city surrounded by important touristic attractions like the Bran (Dracula) castle, the Peles Castle, the Poiana Brasov resort, the Rasnov Fortress, the best winter destinations in Romania: Azuga, Predeal, Sinaia. The city is also a core of touristic destinations and activity possibilities. I recommend you to stay here more than 1 day or 2 as you will have many things to do and places to see.
