Galerie Colbert

Galerie Colbert, built in 1826, was the made to compete with Gallerie Vivienne built 3 years earlier.
During these years, the Galleries were the equivalent of the current shopping malls and were very popular;

Unfortunatly, Gallerie Colbert never succeeded in the competition, and was left in a poor condition until 1980, when the National Library bought it and renovated it. Today, the National Institute of Art History and Institut National du Patrimoine are located there.

It has a beautiful glass dome in the center, and is worse a quick look when you are planning to visit Gallerie Vivienne.Less
