Type of food : Romanian
Victoriei 18, a recently opened restaurant on Calea Victoriei, proposes a new concept on the HoReCa market in Romania: the showcase restaurant. Opened in a location with a long history closely related to the field of fashion, it brings in the same space a good taste both in dishes and interior design, focused on collections of Romanian designers. The restaurant, with an area of 100 square meters, was opened after a total investment of 75,000 euros and has, for the beginning, a team of 9 employees. The menu of Victoriei 18 is international, so customers can choose from a wide range of salads, soups, pizzas, baked pancakes and many other dishes. The interior design, made by a team of young architects, has preserved and restored several features of the former store that have been complemented by some items specially designed for the location - drawings, wall decorations or manually tailored chairs. The showrooms of the former store, highlighted with wooden frames, are used to expose Romanian design objects, such as clothes, accessories, illustrations and many others. Also, for an even closer connection of the restaurant with the history of the location, the original letters on the front of the former store have been restored and embedded in the bar design. The ceiling with a special pattern, the uniquely designed vault and the varnished brick walls, all white surfaces, are complemented by solid wood furniture and colour stains given by the handcrafted stretched string decorations and lighting fixtures. The result is a bright, welcoming space with accents of colour, lights and shadows: the perfect host for those who are looking for good food, a delicious coffee, a nice work place, local events and local design exhibitions.

Creative Lebanese Cuisine in the heart of amazing Byblos
Byblos - Jbeil, Lebanon
Byblos - Jbeil, Lebanon
Type of food : Lebanese
By walking down the main street of the old Souq and just after the Virgin gate you will find two great restaurants in this small square: Locanda and Feniqia both serving Lebanese creative cuisine. As soon as you step in Feniqia the genuine decoration will strike you and actually made by the owner. You will often find him behind the counter, you can't miss him since he is the only guy with Harley-Davidson biker look. The food is really good and always presented in a very creative way, yet with great taste. I particularly liked the meat vertically grilled like a Shawarma. I also recommend the cheese rolls and the Mezzes which are hanged from the ceiling. The service is as good as the food, very friendly and efficient. Nevertheless, they do not take any reservations in advance, when you get there you need to leave your phone number and they will call you as soon as a table is ready. In the meantime it is not a punishment to wonder in Byblos. The only thing that annoyed me is that the place is quite noisy with Lebanese music quite loud. Many people enjoy this kind of atmosphere but I would have preferred it a bit less loud. For the location, the quality of the food, and the atmosphere, Feniqia offers definitely a great quality price experience.
