I always has fascinated by the pottery art. Therefore I will share with you one of the most famous areas of ceramics of Romania - Horezu ceramics.

The pottery is an ancient occupation, which was practiced since ancient times, the evidence being the beautiful ceramic vessels of the Neolithic epoch in which in Romania has been developed a remarkable civilization.

The pottery is a tedious work, requiring strength, skill and special knowledge. Any mistake can lead to the destruction of the dish; therefore, the pottery is an art restricted to men.

If in childhood the clay was the object of the game, for some people, at maturity, the clay became a lifestyle, a way in which the popular objects come to life.

Horezu Pottery is "a unique traditional craft" practiced by both men and women in the northern county of Valcea.

The ceramic objects are handmade by the authentic artisans of Horezu area - Valcea, using ancient techniques for over 2,000 years. Each dish has a unique pattern. Horezu ceramic objects are among the most representative things related to Romanian traditions.

The process is very long. Men are those who deal with the extraction of the clay, which is then cleaned, portioned and watered, kneading, pressing and mixed, becoming the raw material used in the construction of the reddish famous dish by the Horezu.
