PERMANENTLY CLOSED
I went twice to Chez Sophie, in August 2010, when they just openned and in September 2010. I was very gladly surprised the first time, as I was'nt expecting such a refined cuisine. I was a bit disappointed in September, when I felt it was not as tasty and still very expensive for Lebanon. Count more than 100 USD/pers.
Although very refined, I still find it too expensive in comparison with Cocteau, Lutetia or other high standard restaurants.
The restaurant is in an old beautifully renovated house of Mar Mikhael, an old popular street of Beirut getting fancier with the recent opening of many bars and restaurants.
They propose now a 45 USD menu for lunch, but I did'nt try it.
Who is Sophie? Well she's Sophie Tabet, the Chef, who worked in several 1, 2 and 3 Michelin stars restaurants in France and Italy. And this we can see it in the refinement of the plates. Her brother Samir is in Charge of the Service and her Italian Fiancé, the Sommelier.
