Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, on the South Atlantic coast. Rio is famous for its breathtaking landscape, its laidback beach culture and of course its annual carnival organized in February.

The landscape with Ipanema and Copacabana beaches as well as the sugar loaf hills overlooked by the huge statue of Jesus Christ makes it an extraordinary mixture of unique sceneries which was recently elected among one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Of course, as in many cities in Brazil, Criminality in the city is high, the Favellas being often just a block away from luxury districts. So in order to avoid any problems, forget about wearing jewelry, nice watches, cameras,… Just take your flipflops, swimming suits and shorts, and enjoy the beauty of the city in a very relaxed way.

The beaches are beautiful and animated, I personaly prefered Ipanema to Copagabana.

Rio de Janeiro will host many of the FIFA World Cup games, including the final, and the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, becoming the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics. In this sense, many efforts are being done to clean up the city and make it safer.

A mesmerizing experience!
