Medieval festivals today is something many of us might not imagine taking part of. In Romania, such an event is something that takes place yearly in Sighisora, Transylvania.
You can read about the medieval importance of the city in the article: Sighisoara Citadel - a medieval citadel still inhabited today.
In the last weekend of July knights, craftsmen, witches, court ladies, comedians and many medieval characters occupy Sighisoara in order to entertain the public and to teleport them in a time period that they usually don't come across in a daily basis.
Knight Orders and Groups are contacted both in Romania and in other countries and asked to join the event in parades, turners or just to walk around the citadel for the public admiration. Medieval Music Groups and Theater and Animation Groups are also present.
This year, the theme of the festival celebrates Joan of Arc and it's called 600 Years of Fight and Faith: Joan of Arc. The former years characters like Merlin and Arthur or even Don Quijote were celebrated.
If you plan to take place at this festival don't forget to make accommodation reservation long before the event starts. I would also recommend you to get some medieval costumes, the feeling of belonging to this time period is astonishing so you must not miss it!
